The test for the ever-popular Ashmole Academy is currently scheduled for the following dates:

8^th January 2024: Application for Musical Aptitude Listening Test OPEN

Friday 17th May 2024 (3.30pm): Application for Musical Aptitude Listening Test CLOSED

Sunday 9^th June 2024: Musical Aptitude Listening Test – held at Ashmole Academy

Tuesday 2^nd July 2024: Auditions for successful candidates from listening test

Wednesday 3^rd July 2024: Auditions for successful candidates from listening test

Thursday 4^th July 2024: Auditions for successful candidates from listening test

1^st September 2024: Secondary School Application opens with local authorities

w/c 9th September 2024: Audition Results emailed to parents

N.B. Audition results ‘do not’ guarantee a place at the Academy

Ashmole uses a Music Aptitude Test that includes some of the standard questions about pitch and rhythm as well as graphic scores that are not familiar to most of the young musicians we prepare for this part of the test. We have sample graphic scores to help familiarise you with the style of test you will see and hear on the day of the Round 1 MAT test. You can download the training test materials here. Please note that the we cannot reproduce the exact test for you so we recommend working through these tests with your teacher.

We also offer online lessons to help you prepare for both Round 1 and the Round 2 auditions. You can book a lesson with one of our teachers here. We offer lessons by Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime.
