Up to 10% (27) of the places available for Moulsham High School 2019 admissions will be allocated to students with a proven aptitude in music. Aptitude in music will be assessed by tests to be taken by applicants in October. The tests have been devised to be taken by children whether or not they have had experience of or formal training in music. More detailed information about the test is available from the school on request.
The Music Aptitude Test takes place after the September Open Evening and results are posted before the deadline day for handing in forms to Essex County Council Admissions in October. The tests will be held on a Saturday and dependent upon the number of applicants, there may be two sittings.
The music test for Moulsham is designed to be purely on aptitude and not musical ability with multiple choice questions, for example, on rhythm recognition and pitch recognition. You can use our Music Aptitude Tests to familiarise yourself with the styles of MAT commonly used by UK State Secondary Schools.
