Habs / Prendergast Round 2 Audition: What To Expect

Haberdashers_Prendergast_Music_Aptitude_Test_2018

All of our students have successfully passed the Round One Music Aptitude Test selection process for Haberdashers’ Aske’s and Prendergast Hilly Fields school. The Round Two auditions are taking place this week. Two of our students have already sat an audition and have given some feedback that I thought would be useful for anyone sitting Round Two this week. Whilst this is a firsthand account of their experiences, do be prepared for some variation as everyone will be playing different instruments at a different level.

Aural Tests:
Hum/Sing back a very short melody that was played on the piano; Clap back a short rhythm that was played on the piano. You will hear this twice.

Questions asked:
What is your favourite style of music:

Other Information:

  • There is no need to bring a copy of the music.
  • Someone is available to accompany you on the day if required. You may not bring your own accompanist.
  • A warm up room with piano is provided.
  • The audition was on a grand piano.
